Eating Fruits and Vegetables: Why It Matters

Eating fruits and vegetables can be a difficult thing to do, especially when there are so many tasty (and unhealthy!) foods to choose from. This article is going to look at the types of fruits and vegetables to choose from and help you to eat more healthy foods everyday.
We all know that we are supposed to eat our vegetables, but too many Americans choose to eat unhealthy foods instead-there are many highly processed foods available such as processed foods and junk foods. Cutting out the sugars and high levels of sodium will allow your palate to adjust back to the natural way of eating, and you will begin to enjoy the natural flavors that can be found in fruits and vegetables.
The reason it is so important to eat more fruits and vegetables is because these foods contain high levels of essential nutrients that you need to be healthy. The vitamins and minerals help to strengthen your immune system, prevent disease, and lower your risk of serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and strokes.
When you are selecting the types of fruits and vegetables that you want to eat, try choosing a variety of foods… there are many great foods to choose from. As you are transitioning to eat more healthy foods, you should begin to include more fruits and vegetables with every meal. Make sure that you have at least 1 item on the menu that is completely fruit and vegetable based. Salads, veggie trays, and steamed vegetables all work great with any meal. And chopped fruit is a great substitute for sugar-filled desserts.…
