Four Methods to Treat Insomnia Naturally

If you’re looking for information on how to treat insomnia naturally, you’ve probably already discovered that you have chronic insomnia. If you had acute insomnia, it will probably go away before you have time to do much research. Stressful situations usually cause the acute sleep disorder, so after the stress is gone, so is the insomnia.

However, if you have chronic insomnia and haven’t had a good nights for several days in a a week, for weeks at a time it’s time do something about it. Chronic sleep disorders can affect every aspect of your life, especially if they get bad enough – and to the point where you’re falling asleep randomly throughout the day (hopefully not while driving).

While the chronic condition is usually related to a medical disorder, such as asthma, alcoholism, depression, etc. there are still natural things you can do to try as insomnia treatments. Here are four methods on how to treat insomnia naturally.

(1) Listen to relaxing music or brainwave entrainment CDs which calm the nervous system and let you relax. Listening to your favorite soft music can have a very calming effect, and Brainwave Entrainment CDs usually include calming water sounds, such as a running stream, or other nature noises specifically designed to take your mind off what is, or what has happened during the day.

(2) Drink warm milk – yes, this is an age old trick to naturally help a person sleep, and it works just as well today as it did in the past. Herb tea will also do the trick. Seems like anything you do that helps warm up your body a little also helps with sleep disorders.

(3) You can treat insomnia naturally by taking a warm bath about an hour before bedtime. Taking it an hour before bed lets your body cool down a little before you go to bed so you’re not so hot. Being overheated will not help you sleep.

(4) A nice relaxing massage will also do wonders! If you have your spouse do the massage be sure not to talk about happenings of the day while trying to relax with a massage – that will just backfire. Also, if you get a professional massage, don’t talk about anything stressful – just concentrate in relaxing – that’s what you’re there for!
